Barbara Jean Idecker

Barbara (Johnson) Idecker, 89, of Desloge, passed away peacefully August 28, 2024, at Presbyterian Manor in Farmington. She was born November 4, 1934, in Waverly Missouri. She was the only child born to the late Albert “Bud” and Hazel (Ferrell) Johnson. From her early years, she was active in her local church. She was a kind, thoughtful soul and was forever ready to lend a helping hand.

Barbara was married to the love of her life, Eugene Wayne Idecker on May 12, 1956. Their seventeen-year marriage ended too soon when he preceded her in death in 1973. She was also preceded in death by grandparents, Walter and Anna Ferrell; two aunts, Gearene Boen and Naomi Glass.

She had many interests, which included traveling. She loved the Great River Road in Alton. Barbara found the River Road to be the most beautiful, peaceful and relaxing place any time of the year. She also enjoyed touring historic places, crocheting, needlepoint, drawing and oil painting. Barbara collected old dishes, cookbooks and reading books.

Barbara leaves behind cousins, Shelby Alkire and husband Wesley, Nancy Sheets, Beverly “Bev” Pankey, Walter Boen, Elizabeth Nipper, Judy Price,  Anna Houston and Vernon Boen along with several nieces, nephews and other family members also survive. Barbara will be missed by all who knew her.
