Arthur Eugene Jenkerson, 90, of Farmington passed away May 2, 2015. He was born in Desloge on November 25, 1924, to the late Norman "Bud" and Ellen Ackerson Jenkerson. Also preceding him in death were two sisters, Eunice Edwards and Irene Quayle, and one brother, Hershel Jenkerson. At an early age, Arthur was nicknamed "Red" and thereafter was known by that name. Red is survived by his wife of 38 years, Jean Head Jenkerson; four children, Keith (Arlene) Jenkerson, Pamela (Bill) Francis, Kenneth (Delayn) Jenkerson, Sandra (Gene) Howell; ten grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; three step-children, Vicki Kyle, Barbara Duncan and Sid Bloom, Jr. and their families. Red voluntarily served his country in the United States Air Force during World War II. He was trained as a chef and was stationed mainly in England, where he had the opportunity to cook for and serve Generals Eisenhower, Bradley and Patton. In 1986 Red retired from McDonnell Douglas Aircraft after almost 30 years of employment. He enjoyed his retirement with gardening, yard work, fishing and Cardinal Baseball. Red became a Christian in 1966 and served in many capacities in the Free Will Baptist denomination. He was the clerk of the local Association for many years. Red was currently a member of Faith Baptist Church in Farmington and had served there as Sunday school superintendent, vacation Bible school director, usher and trustee. Visitation will be held Monday, May 4, 2015 from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM at the C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Service will be Tuesday at 11:00 AM at the C. Z. Boyer & Son Chapel in Desloge with Rev. Charles Miller officiating assisted by Rev. Gene Howell. Interment will follow at Hillview Memorial Gardens.
