Arthur Lee Poorman, 76, of Bonne Terre, made his heavenly flight on January
17, 2014, at Mercy Hospital in St. Louis, MO. He was born on July 23, 1937, in
Chaffee, MO to the late Elmer A. and Mima Lee (Harmon) Poorman. In addition to
his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Delbert Poorman.After
graduating from Cape Girardeau Central High School, he attended the University
of Missouri in Columbia on a football scholarship. Arthur married Shirley (Vetter) on August 2,
1959, in Commerce, MO. In addition to farming the family farm with his father
for a number of years, he was a Riverboat Captain with ADM and retired in 1997.Survivors
include his wife of 54 years, Shirley; their son, Dr. Yancy (Cindy) Poorman,
and grandson, Kolten Poorman of Bonne Terre; Arthurs daughter, Tammy (Sam)
DeLeon, and granddaughter, Samantha DeLeon of California. Also surviving are
his two sisters, Joyce Sander of Commerce, MO and Mary Young of Scott City, MO.Besides
his love for his family, Arthur loved to travel and the sport of baseball, in
particular, watching his grandson, Kolten, play. However, his greatest passion
was witnessing to others about the gift of salvation through his LORD and
Savior Jesus Christ.Visitation
will be Sunday January 19, 2014 from 4 pm to 8 pm at the C.Z. Boyer & Son
Funeral Home in Desloge. Funeral service will be 11 am Monday January 20, 2014 with Pastor
Derrick Meek officiating.Interment
will follow at the Bonne Terre Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the New
Life Evangelistic Center in St. Louis.
