Arcella Yancey, 94, of Farmington passed away November 24, 2024 at Presbyterian Manor in Farmington. She was born March 24, 1930 in Farmington to the late Alvin Austin and Elsie Dorothy (Smith) Wills. Arcella was a member of New Heights Church and a former member of First Baptist Church of Farmington. During her time at First Baptist Church, she was very active serving in the WMU. She also enjoyed bowling, painting, ceramics and exercising at the Civic Center. She loved camping and being outdoors with her late husband, James. When her children were younger, she enjoyed being involved in all of their activities, even serving as the Scout Leader.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, James Warren Yancey and brother, Thomas “Tom” Wills.
Arcella is survived by her three children, Brenda Ames and husband Dennis, Nedrea Shephard and husband William, David Yancey; six grandchildren, Jennifer Haney, Jesse Dobey, Tammy Mathis, Michael Ames, Michelle Grider, James Yancey. Numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren also survive.
Visitation will be held at the C.Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home – Taylor Chapel in Farmington on Tuesday, November 26, 2024 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM. Visitation will resume on Wednesday at 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:00 AM at the C.Z. Boyer & Son – Taylor Chapel with Rev. Rocky Good officiating. Interment will follow at Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Farmington. Memorial donations may be made to New Heights Church.
