Alice Verl Mayberry

              Alice Mayberry, 90, passed away, at her home in Park Hills, on August 12, 2016.  Mrs. Mayberry was born March 19, 1926, in Bell City. She was the daughter of John Wilson, M.D., and Verl Williams. The family included three sons, and six daughters. She was reared in Bloomfield. Mrs. Mayberry received a bachelor’s and a master’s degree from Southeast Missouri State University and also studied at St. Louis University.  Through most of her career, Mrs. Mayberry was a high school physics and chemistry teacher in St. Francois County and retired from Central High School.  A life-long Baptist, she was a member of First Baptist Church of Desloge at the time of her death.

 

                She was preceded in death by her parents; siblings; and husband, Foster William Mayberry.

 

                Mrs. Mayberry is survived by her children, Bill Mayberry and his wife Barbara of Potosi, Peggy Kelley and her husband John of Town and Country, Wilson Mayberry and his wife Ginger of Richland, N.C., and Nancy Higgins of Columbia, S.C.  She is also survived by three grandchildren, Beth Rousan and her husband Bobby of Potosi, Mary Mayberry of Potosi, and Benjamin Higgins and his wife Cordelia of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; as well as her great grandchildren, Grant and Mollie Rousan.  Other survivors include her sister, Betsy White of Springfield; and many nieces and nephews.

 

                A memorial visitation will be held Monday, August 22, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Desloge from 10:30 AM until service time at 11:30 AM.  Pastor Bradford Laubinger will be officiating.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Farmington Pet Adoption or Park Hills Senior Center - Meals on Wheels.
