Rev. Dennis Walker

             

             Rev. Dennis Walker, 73, of Ironton, passed away at his home May 20, 2019. He was born October 20, 1945, in Risco, to the late Benjamin Franklin and Agnes Elizabeth (Ryon) Walker. Rev. Walker was a member of the Baptist Church of Pilot Knob, but his home church was the First Baptist Church of Bismarck. At the age of 16, Dennis was called into the ministry. At the age of 17, he entered the U. S. Air Force serving his country for the next 4 years. In addition to his ministry, he was an over the road truck driver for 35 years.

             He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Geraline Gossnel, Dorothy Rodgers, and A.J. Walker; in-laws, Floyd and Verdie Counts.

             Rev. Walker is survived by his wife of 55 years, Dorothy Sue (Counts) Walker; children, David Walker and wife Rhonda, Lisa Sullivan and husband Bob; two grandsons, Connor Sullivan and Tyler Walker; sister, Doris “Glenda” Pearson and husband Rick; several cousins and family friends, also survive.

             Visitation will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home in Desloge, Thursday, May 23, 2019, from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM. The service will be held at C.Z. Boyer and Son Chapel, Friday, May 24, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Matt Sheckles officiating. Interment will follow at Bismarck Odd Fellows Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
